Come on by The Skillet for home cooking. Chat with locals who hang out over breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Not enough room in the remodeled single-wide manufactured home from the 1970’s? Then share a table, or go out back on the covered patio. Maybe hear a local or not so local band play.

Food at The Skillet

Known for hamburgers, chicken strips, and pizza, Darren also fixes breakfasts and specialty dinners. There’s Taco Tuesday, Hamburger night, and Pizza night. If you’re really hungry for breakfast, you can order the Myrtle Lake Pancake. But be prepared for a lot of food. It’s served on a pizza tray and is as big as a pizza.

On Cinco de Mayo, Darren fixed up nachos in a pizza box! That was enough for three people to eat on for two meals!

The company

Pull up a chair. You never know what conversations you’ll have in The Skillet. Ana swings in to get a drink, but leaves with a to-go order of burger and fries, as well as a heart warmed by the concern of her neighbors. That’s the type of place this is. I wish I could tell you it’s still in operation, but fall of 2020, what I knew as The Skillet closed. It reopened as a sushi place, and then closed again. As of June, 2022, it’s back in business as The Spoon 2.0 serving burgers and breakfasts. So, if you’re in the area, check it out. They even have bands again playing out back.
