The 4th of July in Myrtle Beach boasts about an hour long fireworks show. Port Orford, Oregon has a pretty long fireworks show as well–usually 1/2 hour to 45 mins. You’ll find the parade has all kinds of fun floats usually made up of locals and often kids–just like Harley and Will. I’ve shared a little about it in a blog post.

Rogue Jets

Besides the 4th of July, the kids enjoyed a field trip up the Rogue River. Many people don’t know what jet boats are. According to Jerry’s Jet Boats, one of three Boice brothers designed the jet boat. He took a hydro-jet which sucks water in and then propels it out the back through a nozzle flush with the bottom of the boat. The captain of the boat, located in the wheelhouse at the b,ack of the boat turns the wheel which rotates the nozzle and that rotates the boat. The boats are known for their 360 degree turns in shallow water spraying their passengers. My first trip, I didn’t know that and came back soaked without a change of clothes!
